A handful of letters, a points target, and one perfect word hiding in the pile. Here is how to find it.
Forge gives you a set of letters and a points target. Build any word of three letters or more using each letter tile at most once, and it scores by length: short words earn a little, long words earn a lot, and somewhere in the letters is a perfect word that uses every single tile. Finding a perfect word pays a big +15 bonus on top of its length score, and it is almost always the fastest route to the target.
Before typing anything, stare at the full letter set and try to solve it as an anagram. Count the vowels and place them mentally between consonant clusters. Look for common endings first: if the letters contain E and D, try past-tense shapes; an I-N-G points to -ing forms; an S invites plurals; R after a consonant suggests blends like TR, GR, and BR. Many perfect words announce themselves the moment you spot the ending, because only a few letters remain for the front.
If the perfect word will not come, do not stall. Bank medium words and keep glancing back at the full set; typing related words often shakes the anagram loose, and a second full-length word still scores as a perfect word if you find one later.
Every good word you find is a template for more. Found TINT? Try TINTS. Found RAT? Try RATS, TAR, ART, TART. Wordcade accepts standard plural forms of accepted words, so adding an S or ES to a word that worked is nearly free points whenever the letters allow it. Prefixes and suffixes are the other multiplier: RE-, UN-, -ER, and -Y turn one discovery into three.
Three-letter words are worth the least, so use them as scaffolding rather than strategy: type them while you think, but know that one six-letter word usually outscores a fistful of short ones.
The Finish button is yours to press once you clear the target, and the completion screen shows the biggest words you missed, which is quietly the best vocabulary lesson in the game. On dailies, remember the wider prize: winning all three of the day's games on the first attempt earns bonus tokens and a Streak Shield, so if you are close to the target, one more careful word is worth more than a fast finish.
